Girls Day Electronics Workshop

Girls Day Electronics Workshop

In honour of Women’s Day August 2024, G2 Fire hosted 15 Grade 10 girls from Blue Eagle High School, Cosmo City.  We had a fun and informative day that the girls enthusiastically participated in.

The purpose of the day is to expose them to the career options available to them, and to encourage them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM).

The session ends with lunch, a very entertaining game of 30 seconds, presentation of certificates and of course some goodie bags which included a maths kit, book and pens, and some snacks.

Career Presentation

The girls had a presentation by G2 Fire's Nichola Allan covering the fire industry and engineering career opportunities. Then VIP guest speaker Matlala Sathekge gave a talk on how she came from a small village in Limpopo to become a mechanical engineer and now works for the Department of Employment and Labour

Build your own Circuit

After the presentations, we have the girls build their own electronic circuits. They can see their own series and parallel circuits light up LEDs.

Conventional Panel Demo

G2 Fire Tech Support came in to give the girls a demonstration on how a conventional panel works. The girls had lots of questions!

30 Seconds Game

We finished with a fun game of 30 Seconds where the girls had lots of new words to describe to each other. The enthusiasm was next level!!
